What Does it Do?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive, in-office treatment performed under topical anesthesia. During this quick procedure, a medical-grade handheld device is passed over the treatment area, causing tiny puncture wounds to the skin. The body’s natural response is to heal the puncture wounds by stimulating collagen and elastin production, resulting in a brighter and more refined complexion.
Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling in conjunction with PRP (platelet rich plasma) has been shown to boost the effectiveness of Microneedling treatments. PRP is extracted from an individual’s own blood and is applied to the skin during the Microneedling portion of the treatment. Platelets contain highly concentrated growth factors that further promote the regeneration and production of collagen for an even better outcome.
How Long is the Procedure and Downtime?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive, in-office procedure that can be completed in about an hour under topical anesthesia. The anesthesia is applied for 20-30 minutes followed by a handheld Microneedling pen, which is passed over the treatment area to induce collagen and elastin production. Patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure, and healing time ranges between 24-72 hours accompanied by slight redness.
How Soon Will I See Results?
Collagen production takes approximately 4-8 weeks after a single Microneedling treatment. During this time, you will notice that your skin will continue to improve in tone, texture and firmness.
