Mirconeedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser
With so many skin treatment options out there, and new ones being developed every year, it can be hard to keep up and recognize the benefits and differences of each. Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser is a highly effective skin treatment offered by Allure Aesthetic of Beverly Hills. Here’s what you need to know.
What is Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment?
This skin treatment involves the use of fractional carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser resurfacing devices with radio frequency microneedling to deliver infrared light through a tube filled with carbon dioxide to create microthermal wounds in the treatment area. As the skin absorbs the light, the tissue is vaporized, removing aged and damaged skin cells from the outer layer. Fractional CO₂ laser resurfacing causes thermal damage, which in turn contracts the skin’s collagen, tightens the skin, and boosts collagen production and the growth of healthy skin cells.
Benefits of Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment
This combination treatment can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks. Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser treatment can also improve skin texture, crepey skin, pore size, and sun-damaged skin.
Though this treatment is non-surgical, it is more invasive than other skin resurfacing treatments and produces more noticeable results. One session of Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser treatment takes an average of 30 to 45 minutes. After treatment, the skin will be red and warm to the touch and clients should plan for one week of downtime.
Contraindications of Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment
Not all clients are good candidates for this type of laser treatment. Clients with active infections in the desired treatment area, those who have used isotretinoin in the past six months, and those with darker skin types are not good candidates for Microneedling RF + Fractional CO₂ Laser treatment.
What to Expect During Treatment
A topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure optimal comfort during the procedure. Patients may also receive prescribed medication to help minimize pain.
The esthetician will begin the procedure by making multiple passes of RF microneedling, which may cause sensations of slight pressure and tingling as the micro-sized needles penetrate the skin.
Next, the esthetician will pass the CO₂ laser over the same treatment area to create thousands of microscopic perforations. The combination of these two procedures will help maximize the stimulation of the body’s collagen production.
The length of recovery time will depend on the type(s) of skin condition being treated. The deeper the treatment, the more recovery time will be required. Overall recovery time may range from a few days to a week.
How Many Treatments Are Necessary?
Patients will typically need one to three treatments, generally performed three to six weeks apart. The provider will discuss the treatment plan during the initial consultation.
